Description
The Glow-worm Easicom 3 25kW is one of the cheapest ErP A-rated heat only boilers available in the UK from a manufacturer that carries genuine weight. Glow-worm sits within the Vaillant Group — the same European engineering house behind the Vaillant ecoTEC range — which means the design discipline, the component quality standards, and the Benchmark compliance are all carried across, at a price point that undercuts most of the competition by a significant margin.
At under £700, it is difficult to find a regular boiler that pairs this level of brand backing with a 5-year manufacturer warranty as standard. There are no upgrade tiers, no extended warranty packages to buy into — register within one month of installation and the cover is in place.
The heat exchanger is aluminium, which is well suited to the condensing temperatures a heat only boiler operates at and keeps the unit weight down to 22kg dry — manageable for a single installer.
Rear Flue
Most heat only boilers exit from the top. The Easicom 3 has a rear flue outlet as standard, with the top position also available. In practice, rear exit means the boiler sits flush to the wall with only 20mm clearance required above the casing — compared to 150mm for a top-exit installation. For airing cupboards, alcove positions, and plant rooms with restricted ceiling height, this removes a constraint that rules out competing products entirely. No elbow required before the flue run, which also reduces resistance, fitting count, and time on site.
Flue System
The Easicom 3 takes the full Glow-worm concentric flue range: 60/100mm standard bore up to 9m horizontal or 10m vertical, and 80/125mm large bore up to 25m for longer runs. It supports C13 horizontal, C33 vertical, and C53 twin pipe configurations. What separates the Glow-worm and Vaillant flue range from most other brands at this price point is the availability of a 4-metre single-piece flue extension — something no other mainstream budget boiler manufacturer offers. Most competitors are limited to 1-metre sections, which means multiple joints through a deep wall, a garage, or an outbuilding run. The 4m piece eliminates those joints, reduces leak risk, and cuts installation time on longer runs considerably.
Flue kits are not included with the boiler and must be ordered separately.
